Avalanche warning for region Heiane Wednesday 23.02.2022

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Be careful in lee areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Naturally released wet loose avalanches expected at lower elevations due to rising temperatures and rain.

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Avalanches may release spontaneously on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

I skogen er snøen ubundet. Over skogen er snødekket vindpåvirket i varierende grad. På de mest vindutsatte plassene er det hardere fokksnø eller skare. Det er nå godt med snø i hele regionen og særlig øst og nordvendte leområder har samlet store mengder snø.

14-18 mm precipitation. Rain up to 400 m a.s.l during the evening. Fresh breeze from southeast. -16 °C to -3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Wednesday 23. February 2022

35 mm precipitation, up to 75 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 900 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Moderate gale from southwest. -4 °C to 0 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Over tregrensa vil vind og mye nysnø gi store ustabile fokksnøflak i leheng, enkelte skred kan løsne naturlig.
