Avalanche warning for region Heiane Friday 22.03.2024

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Published:
Increasing avalanche danger due to strong winds and precipitation. Wet avalanches may trigger where it rains on snow. In the northern part of the region, dry avalanches may trigger naturally on the highest peaks. Avoid avalanche terrain.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Loose snow

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Advice

Avalanche risk assessment

Det blir vått og vindfullt. Det ventes våte skred i hele regionen. Tørre skred i ustabil snø kan forekomme på de høyeste toppene og er aktuelt i regionen nord for Sirdalsheiene. Her kommer en del av nedbøren som snø.
