Avalanche warning for region Helgeland Wednesday 09.03.2022

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Use caution on recently loaded slopes in the alpine. Wet avalanches can easily be triggered by skiers at lower elevations.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Wednesday 9. March 2022

Mountain weather

Tuesday 8. March 2022

16 mm precipitation, up to 35 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 900 m a.s.l during renoon. Strong breeze from southwest, changing to breeze from the south during the evening. -7 °C to 0 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Wednesday 9. March 2022

No precipitation. Breeze from southeast. -10 °C to -1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Oppdatert onsdag kl 08.30:
Skredfaren er knyttet til fersk fokksnø. Det er mulige å løse ut store skred, særlig første del av dagen før fokksnøen får satt seg.

Skiløpere kan lett løse ut skred i den våte snøen i svært bratt terreng.
