Avalanche warning for region Indre Fjordane Friday 28.01.2022

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

The risk of avalanches increases throughout the afternoon due to heavy percipitation and wind. Danger of naturally triggered avalanches. Yesterday's avalanche problem is still present.

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Lavlandet bærer preg av mildvær den siste tiden og det er lite snø under 500 moh.
I høyfjellet over ca. 1200 moh. består snøoverflaten av fokksnø med varierende hardhet, i vindutsatt terreng er det avblåst til bakken eller skare.

Det gamle snødekket antas stabilt etter flere runde med mildvær.

20 mm precipitation, up to 35 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 1000 m a.s.l Thursday night. Fresh breeze from southwest, changing to moderate gale from the northwest during renoon. -9 °C to 1 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Friday 28. January 2022

20 mm precipitation, up to 35 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 600 m a.s.l during the evening. Fresh breeze from northwest, changing to moderate gale from the southwest during the afternoon. -10 °C to -3 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

På ettermiddagen ventes økende nedbør og kraftig vind fra SV. Det er mange steder mye snø å flytte på og i høyden vil dette gi stor pålagring i nye hengretninger. Det blir igjen fare for naturlig utløste skred i heng som får stor innlasting. Store, klassiske skredbaner som får innlasting fra sørvest er mest utsatt.

Torsdagens fokksnøflak vil også trenge tid på å stabilisere seg. Det vil fortsatt være mulig å løse ut store skred i heng som samlet snø fra nordvesten.

I lavere områder vil stigende temperatur og regn i den nye snøen gi fare for våte skred utover ettermiddagen og kvelden.
