Avalanche warning for region Indre Fjordane Friday 05.01.2024

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Locally unstable conditions. A skier or a snow mobile may trigger avalanches in wind slabs, while persistent weak layers deeper in the snow in general is hard to trigger. Persistent weak layers are most likely to find in the eastern parts of the region. The avalanche danger is probably low in the western parts.

You can trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Snøoverflata er påvirket av svært kraftig vind i lang tid. Kuling fra Ø har flyttet det meste av løs snø over i vestvendte heng.

Fokksnøen i fjellet er stort sett bærende, og det er avblåst ned på skare mange steder.

Det er bare i skjerma formasjoner og i skogen det er mulig å finne løs snø som kom i julehelga.

Det kan ha oppstått et kantkornlag rundt mildværsskaren fra 16.12. Dette ble observert på 1000 moh på Utvikfjellet den 19. desember, og senest nå 2. januar ved Sandane. Laget var vanskelig å påvirke.

No precipitation. Calm/light breeze from southeast. -25 °C to -11 °C at 1400 m a.s.l.

Fokksnøen stabiliserer seg og det skal mer til for å løse ut skred. Indre deler av regionen virker mest utsatt da vinden har tatt mest her.

Vær obs på at det over ca. 1000 moh og særlig i indre deler av regionen kan være mulig å løse ut skred dypere i snødekket i vedvarende svake lag.
