Avalanche warning for region Lofoten og Vesterålen Sunday 13.05.2018

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Published:
Favorable conditions. Glide avalanches are possible.

Avalanche problems

Glide avalanches

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Wet snow/melting near the ground

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Saturday 12. May 2018

Mountain weather

Saturday 12. May 2018

0 mm precipitation, up to 5 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from south, changing to breeze from the during the evening. 3 °C to 10 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Sunday 13. May 2018

No precipitation. Breeze from south. 4 °C to 12 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Snart sommer. Det er plussgrader både natt og dag og snødekket går fort i oppløsning.

Det kan gå enkelte naturlig utløste skred helt mot bakken pga 'råtten' snø og manglende bindinger i snødekket.
