Notes
• Location:
Very steep slope, sheltered from wind, below the summit rocks.
Quite deep snowpack. Representative for shady aspects of this
elevation.
Profile:
Wind slab sitting on well consolidated older pack.
Snow surface:
smooth, surface hoar at higher elevations
Weaknesses:
The wind slabs showed in the test, but seemed rather unresponsive
when skiing.
Snow drifts:
fresh drifts in sheltered locations, up to 50 cm thick, more
frequently observed on western aspects
Test:
CT 12@174.0cm: sudden break planar (SP)
CT 21@162.0cm: resistant break planar (RP)
Signs of instability:
One secondary release on eastern slope at about 700m probably
due to mid sized sluffs.
Danger:
moderate for wind slab problem; wet snow problem at lower
elevations (south below 900-1000m, west and east below 800m?)
