Avalanche Danger Assessment
• The warming and rain is transforming the snowpack below the treeline. In Erikaksla skiers remote triggered a slab at 50-100m distance at ~350masl. The snow was described as wet. There are also reports of small avalanches in other parts of the region. Mild temperatures reported also from higher elevations, but not enough to make sticky snow. Good skiing in several aspects, even at lower altitude where the rain and warmth has transformed the snow sufficiently. • Even though there are no reports of slab avalanches high on the mountains, the wind drifted snow should still be treated with caution. The mild temperatures will help the stabilizing of windslabs, but the presence of faceted snow still make the situation unpredictable. • The strategic mindset is “Stepping out with caution”, keeping away from steep windslabs, especially sector north, and recognizing and avoiding avalanche terrain where the snow is wet
