Avalanche warning for region Nord-Trøndelag Saturday 21.04.2018

Many medium sized and some large wet avalanches is expected due to heavy rain and snow on a weak snowpack. There are well-defined persistent weak layers buried in the snowpack that can cause large avalanches. Keep good distance to avalanche terrain and run out zones for wet avalanches.

You can very easily trigger avalanches on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Avalanche risk assessment

Lørdag vil det komme store mengder nedbør, som snø ca. over 700 moh. Observasjoner fra naboregionene tyder på at snødekket har svake lag som trolig vil tåle belastningen fra nedbøren dårlig. Mange middels store og noen store våte skred forventes. Skredfaren kan derfor komme opp mot faregrad 4 - stor snøskredfare.

Vær også klar over at kuling og kraftig snøvær over 700 moh vil danne ferske ustabile nysnøflak som kan gi middels store tørre flakskred over nysnøgrensa.
