Avalanche Problems
• Loose wet avalanche • Loose snow • Spontaneous release • 1 - Small • Some steep slopes E, SE, S, SW, W below 300 masl
• Dry slab avalanche • Buried weak layer of new snow • Easy to trigger • 2 - Medium • N, NE, E, W, NW below 400 masl
Avalanche Danger Assessment
• Locally no signs of an active persistent weak layer, but the NE aspects we travelled on are well-filled with snow (over 3.2m at 650m).
New snow was reactive to ski-cutting, but limited to upper 10-20cm and in steep (35 degrees)+ terrain.
Very steep E-SE slopes saw constant small sluffs of the steep east faces of Arnøyhøgda.
Generally good ski touring conditions with good overnight recovery at the moment.
• Slight stabilization of recent snow, wet snow avalanches remain a hazard on solar slopes. • 2 Moderate • Forecast correct
