Be careful in areas with windslabs. A persistent weak layer of facets may be triggered, especially where the snow cover is thin.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Snøoverflaten er nå preget av mye nysnø og kraftig vind fra hovedsakelig øst.

Mildvær og regn påvirket snøoverflaten ca opp til 600 moh forrige uke, som nå har fryst til igjen.

Det finnes kantkornlag i snødekket over ca 500 moh, men observasjoner tyder på at de generelt er vanskelig å påvirke.
Langs bakken er det begerkrystaller.

På torsdag ble det rapportert inn naturlig utløste skred av ca str. 2 ved Tellbreen som løsnet helt til bakken.

10 mm precipitation, up to 16 mm in the most exposed areas. Precipitation as snow. Strong gale from east, changing to moderate gale from the north during renoon. -15 °C to -7 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Tuesday 22. March 2022

Little to no precipitation. Breeze from north. -19 °C to -12 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Været roer seg, men de ferske fokksnøflakene trenger litt tid på å stabilisere seg. Spesielt første del av dagen, kan flak være lett å løse ut.

Høyt til fjells finnes det også et vedvarende svakt lag dypt i snødekket. Det kan ikke utelukkes at en person kan løse ut skred på dette laget, spesielt der hvor snødekke er tynt. Slike skred kan bli store.
