Avalanche problems

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Dagene før jul har det vært kraftig bygevær i regionen. Dette har ført til lokalt store mengder snø og vind i fjellet.

Lokalt kan det fortsatt ligge igjen svake lag av overflaterim i snødekket fra midten av desember. På fjellet i indre strøk er det svake lag av kantkorn fra kuldeperioden i november.

Ingen naturlig utløste skred er observert. Det har vært enkelte skiløper utløste skred under uværet.

2-4 mm precipitation. Precipitation as snow. Fresh breeze from southwest, changing to strong breeze from the southeast during the afternoon. -13 °C to -5 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Monday 26. December 2022

No precipitation. Strong breeze from southeast, changing to moderate gale from the southeast during the afternoon. -12 °C to -3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Fokksnøflak fra før-julsuværet kan være ustabile og bør behandles med varsomhet.

Fra tidligere spøker vedvarende svake lag av overflaterim og kantkorn. Disse lagene kan kollapse ved tilstrekkelig stor belastning.
