Avalanche warning for region Ofoten Saturday 30.03.2024

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Wind slabs that have formed on Thursday and Friday can be triggered. Primarily by large additional loads, but be aware of localised differences.

In some places, the snow surface is icy, and the risk of slipping is high.

You can trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Etter snøvær på mandag, som ga 10-15 cm med nysnø, har det periodevis blåst ganske kraftig fra øst torsdag som har flyttet på nysnøen flere steder. Etter at det roet seg ned, har det snødd et par cm. Snøoverflaten domineres av mer eller mindre bunden/flaket snø med et dryss ubunden nysnø på toppen.

No precipitation. Moderate gale from southeast. -13 °C to -5 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Clear skies.

Saturday 30. March 2024

3-5 mm precipitation. Precipitation as snow. Strong breeze from southeast, changing to fresh breeze from the southeast during the afternoon. -11 °C to -5 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Skredfaren er knyttet til områder som har fokksnøflak etter vind torsdag og fredag. Det er trolig vanskelig å løse ut skred, men vær oppmerksom på lokale forskjeller.

Litt nysnø ventes ikke å gi et nytt skredproblem.

Noen steder kan det være svært hardt i snøoverflaten og ferdsel kan være krevende. Det er stor fare for utglidning disse stedene.
