At high elevations there may be fresh, reactive windslabs. At lower elevations small wet avalanches are the main problem.

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Snøoverflata er påvirket av mildvær og regn de siste dagene opp til minst 1100 moh. I lavlandet er gjenværende snø gjennomfuktet. Fra cirka skoggrensen og oppover ble snødekket igjenfrosset fredag. På de høyeste toppene finnes det trolig tørrsnø som er preget av vind.

Det er tidligere blitt observert flere lag med kantkorn i snødekket. Det antas at siste dagers mildvær og regn har nøytralisert disse vedvarende svake lagene der hvor de har ligget høyt i snødekket.

Etter lavere temperatur fredag med kuldegrader i fjellet er det +1 på Fagernesfjellet (1000 moh) lørdag morgen.

8 mm precipitation, up to 18 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 1000 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Fresh breeze from south, changing to strong breeze from the south during the afternoon. -2 °C to 2 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Sunday 14. April 2024

4-7 mm precipitation. Rain up to 500 m a.s.l Sunday night. Fresh breeze from southwest, changing to fresh breeze from the northwest during the afternoon. -6 °C to -1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Lavere temperatur og små mengder nysnø gjør at snødekket stabiliseres. I de høyeste fjellområdene med tørr fokksnø kan det være mulig å løse ut små fokksnøflak. Eventuelle kantkornlag høyt til fjells vil være vanskelige å påvirke. Faren for våte løssnøskred avtar, mest utsatt er bratte sørvendte sider hvis sola kommer frem.
