Avalanche warning for region Rogalandskysten Sunday 28.01.2018

Danger level 4 - High avalanche danger

Dangerous avalanche conditions due to large amounts of new snow and strong winds. Natural avalanches are likely. Avoid avalanche terrain.

New snow (slab avalanches)

You can very easily trigger avalanches on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Mildvær opp til 800 moh, store nedbørsmengder og stiv kuling fra vest gjør at skredfaren vil øke ytterligere søndag. Naturlig utløste tørre flakskred forventes i mange bratte heng over mildværgrensa. Mest utsatt er terreng og lesider mot Ø og i indre deler av regionen. Under mildværgrensa forventes regn å føre til naturlig utløste våte flakskred og løssnøskred. Snøskredfaren vurderes til 4-stor. All ferdsel i skredterreng frarådes og enkelte skred kan nå veier og infrastruktur.
