Avalanche warning for region Sunnmøre Wednesday 31.01.2024

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

A strong low pressure system will hit the region. Hurricane winds are forecasted in the mountains. some large avalanches will release naturally. Touring above treeline is not recommened. Wet loose avalanches at lower elevations.

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Mildvær og regn opp til ca 1400 moh har gitt mye snøsmelting og stabilisert snødekket i lavere områder. På de høyeste toppene er det fokksnøflak av varierende hardhet etter mye snø og kraftig vind de siste dagene.

Eventuelt kantkorn betraktes på som nøytralisert av mildværet.

Søndag er det observert store våte flakskred som følge av mildværet.

No precipitation. Breeze from southwest, changing to strong breeze from the southwest during the evening. -15 °C to -2 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Wednesday 31. January 2024

30 mm precipitation, up to 35 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 600 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Gale from southwest. -8 °C to 0 °C at 1400 m a.s.l.

Skredfaren øker pga ny runde med kraftig vind og mye nedbør.
Det vil legge seg opp store ustabile fokksnøflak i leområder i høyden. Skred vil løsne av seg selv, noen kan bli store.

Under mildværsgrensa kan det gå noen våte løssnøskred.
