Avalanche warning for region Trollheimen Tuesday 01.02.2022

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Be aware of fresh wind slabs, typically behind ridges, in ribs and gullies.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Monday 31. January 2022

Snømengdene varierer i regionen.

8 cm nysnø i Sunndalen mandag.

Mountain weather

Monday 31. January 2022

2-5 mm precipitation. Precipitation as snow. Breeze from southeast, changing to fresh breeze from the northwest during the evening. -18 °C to -9 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Tuesday 1. February 2022

4 mm precipitation, up to 12 mm in the most exposed areas. Precipitation as snow. Fresh breeze from southeast, changing to breeze from the northwest during the evening. -15 °C to -9 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
