Avalanche warning for region Tromsø Saturday 19.03.2022

General unstable conditions. Wet avalanches are expected. In the mountains where precipitation falls as snow, avoid new and fresh wind slabs.

Sol og plussgrader tidligere i uka påvirket snødekket høyt til fjells. De siste dagene har det vært mer skyet og dermed har snødekket fått fryse til i høyden og noen steder har det også kommet litt nysnø. I lavlandet er det fortsatt er fuktig og snødekket er stort sett smelteomvandlet til bakken.

Det er observert kantkorn over ca. 500 moh både rundt mildværsskare fra 23. januar og fra 27. februar. Det har ikke vært faretegn eller skredaktivitet fra disse lagene den siste tiden, men ved mildvær eller stor pålagring kan de vekkes til live igjen.

Fredag observeres kraftig snøfokk over ca. 500 moh.

4-8 mm precipitation. Rain up to 500 m a.s.l during renoon. Strong breeze from south, changing to moderate gale from the southwest during the afternoon. -3 °C to 1 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Saturday 19. March 2022

20 mm precipitation, up to 30 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 900 m a.s.l during renoon. Strong gale from southwest, changing to strong breeze from the west during the afternoon. -2 °C to 3 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Mye nedbør, kraftig vind og forbigående mildvær høyt til fjells gir raskt økende snøskredfare.
Det ventes at store flakskred kan løsne naturlig både som våte skred under mildværsgrensa og etter hvert som tørre skred i høyden der nedbøren kommer som snø. Dersom gamle vedvarende svake lag vekkes til live kan det også gå enkelte svært store skred.
