Avalanche warning for region Tromsø Friday 02.12.2022

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Published:
It's little snow and mainly stable conditions. A few small windslabs may form in areas with newly deposited snow if it gets windy.

Avalanche problems

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can very easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1) Remote triggering is possible.

Buried weak layer of faceted snow near surface

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Thursday 1. December 2022

Mountain weather

Thursday 1. December 2022

Little to no precipitation. Breeze from southwest, changing to breeze from the southeast during the afternoon. -10 °C to -1 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Friday 2. December 2022

No precipitation. Fresh breeze from south. -11 °C to -1 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Clear skies.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
