Small windslabs are easy to trigger during snowstorms. But there is small amounts of snow coming and the problem will only be present where there is enough snow.

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Det er gjenfrosset snødekke etter mildværet tidlig i uka med et dryss av nysnø fra onsdag og torsdag. Snøfordelingen er ujevn og mange steder er avblåst. I fjellet veksler overflata mellom hard fokksnø og skare. Enkelte steder er det mykere fokksnøflak.

Nede i snødekket ligger et svakt lag av kantkorn rundt skarelag fra mildvær 29. januar, men dette er ikke aktivt nå. I Indre strøk finnes kantkorn ved skarelag bare i skogen, ved Alteidet opp til ca 500 moh, og ute ved kysten opp til ca 800 moh. Dette er heler ikke aktivt nå. Det er kantkorn under utvikling høyt i snødekket 14.03. Foreløbig kun spredte observasjoner på dette og små flak over.

Fravær av aktivitet i kantkornlaget meldes fra Langfjorden torsdag. Det er kaldt etter mildvær og mulighet for oppbyggende omvandling høyt i snødekke.

Friday 15. March 2024

4-7 mm precipitation. Precipitation as snow. Strong breeze from north, changing to strong breeze from the southwest during the evening. -20 °C to -8 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Litt nedbør og kraftig vind på formiddag kan gi ustabile fokksnøflak i le for vinden. Siden det skal snø lite vil flakene stort sett bli små men lette å løse ut mens været står på.
