Forecast issued by NVE and MET for Balsfjord Saturday 2022-04-09

Highest danger level per day
The highest danger level per day is currently only governed by flood and landslide warnings

Flood

Green level (NVE)

Landslide

Green level (NVE)

Avalanche

Complex situation with persistent weak layers. Avalanches are triggered most easily where the wind slabs are thin, typically close to ridges and on convex formations. Remote triggering from less steep terrain is possible. Natural triggered avalanches is most likely early in the day before the wind dies. (NVE)

Nord-Troms

The snow stability is complex and can vary in short distances. Due to persistent weak layers, avalanches can be triggered from a distance. The absence of danger signs does not necessarily mean that it's safe. If the wind slabs are hard, large avalanches can easily be triggered from where the slab is shallow. (NVE)

Lyngen

Conditions are difficult. Due to persistent weak layers, avalanches can be triggered from a distance and avalanches can be large. The absence of danger signs does not necessarily mean that it is safe. If the wind slab is hard, large avalanches can easily be triggered from where the slab is shallow. Avoid steep terrain. (NVE)

Tromsø

Conditions are challenging. A persistent buried weak layer can cause large avalanches. Remote triggering is possible. It is difficult to know where it is easy to trigger the weak layer, and where it's not. (NVE)

Sør-Troms

Conditions are difficult. Due to persistent weak layers, avalanches can be triggered from a distance and avalanches can be large. No danger signs does not necessarily mean that it is safe, as the properties of the weak layer can vary over short distances. The situation is therefore complex. Avoid steep terrain. (NVE)
