Avalanche

The avalanche danger varies during the day. The danger is at its highest in steep sun-exposed slopes. Weak layers are present deeper in the snowpack. It is generally hard to trigger, but smaller avalanches can trigger larger avalanches on this layer. Avoid cornices and terrain beneath. (NVE)

Nord-Troms

The avalanche danger is at its highest in steep sun-exposed slopes. There is also some fresh wind slabs in northern aspects above 800 masl. Weak layers deeper in the snowpack is generally hard to trigger, but smaller avalanches can trigger large avalanches on this layer. Avoid cornices and terrain beneath. (NVE)

Lyngen

The avalanche danger is at its highest in steep sun-exposed slopes. There is also some fresh wind slabs in northern aspects above 800 masl. Tromsø

The avalanche danger increases as the sun weakens the snow surface. Wet, loose avalanches are likely. Safe travel conditions on shaded slopes. In the high alpine, persistent weak layers are present. Check the snowpack before committing to big terrain. Keep distance to cornices and areas with glide-cracks. (NVE)

Sør-Troms

The avalanche danger varies during the day. The danger is at its highest in steep sun-exposed slopes and in the afternoon when the air temperature is high. Avoid cornices. A persistent layer of facets is buried deep in the snowpack but is generally hard to trigger. (NVE)
